Be a Big Sister

Sisters…

When two people share the relationship “Sisters,” it is a very special and powerful connection. Whether in a family context or among good friends, the term has come to mean a shared bond in which both “Sisters” encourage, celebrate and support one another.

So, what is a Big Sister?

  • A Big Sister is the older friend or role model all younger kids deserve.
  • A Big Sister is the woman who showed you how to bake a cake, plant a flower, took you out to the mall, the movies or to dinner.
  • A Big Sister is the woman who shows up to have fun, hang out and goof off.
  • A Big Sister is the woman you always wanted to be when you grew up.

What does it mean when you become a Big Sister?

  • It means you will be matched one-to-one with a deserving girl between the age of 8 and 14.
  • It means that just by being a friend—a “Sister”—to a kid, you can have a positive influence on her that can help change her life, build her self-esteem, and help her figure out who she is, who she wants to be and can be.
  • It means you decided that you could simply spend one hour per week doing something that really matters—both in your life and in the life of a central Indiana youth.
  • It means you will be on your way to finding out how Big you can be as you make a young friend for a lifetime—“Sisters.”
